My career has included running a small privately owned business and over twenty years as an executive in a Fortune 100 company. This gave me many opportunities to work with other businesses to facilitate their development and success. In all instances, I engaged with multi-talented and hardworking leaders and their teams, often in geographically and culturally diverse areas, providing direction and coaching to enable them to reach the next level and consistently deliver business value. The following gives a glimpse of those projects and my experience:
Oversaw the turnaround of an under-performing region, developing teams that were later viewed as credible with business line clients. Their success was immediately evident: they delivered a fit-for-purpose service within budget and with zero employee safety or control incidents. Their success also included managing an ever-changing business environment and the clients’ expectations.
Led the development and implementation of a programme that aimed to see the managers demonstrate visible leadership, to ‘walk the talk’. The entire organisation was re-motivated and re-focused, and there was an immediate reduction in safety incidents. A major success factor was that the campaign crossed cultural and language barriers, bringing everyone together on one mission and resulting in the multiple regions achieving their “best ever” safety results.
Organisation and Outsourcing
Involvement in multiple outsourcing initiatives through the complete life cycle of the industry, which included:
Assessing, designing and developing a facilities service delivery agreement, including the scope of work, KPIs and governance processes for a newly formed real estate and facilities organisation with sites in Melbourne, Tokyo and London, enabling the tender of their facilities operation.
Led a global team in the development and implementation of an industry-leading, globally-integrated, outcome-based, outsourced delivery model. Ultimately, this enabled the delivery of a more cost-effective, scalable and agile organisation and service delivery offering. It also generated value through service improvements, innovation and operational savings, and a streamlined organisation with an increased strategic focus.
Led an able team in successfully transforming a siloed organisation into a flexible, agile, integrated organisation to support the effective governance of combined outsourced and directly managed portfolio, enabling them to adapt to the ever-changing business environment.
Real Estate Transactions, Project Management, Move Management
Directly managed numerous fit-outs (5,000sqft to 200,000sqft) and move management projects (50 to 2,000 people) internationally for a wide range of blue-chip businesses.
Set up of offices, housing, transportation and a new facilities organisation in two frontier locations.
Developed strategy and led a team to implement facilities operations, supporting interim and permanent term offices, housing and transportation.
